Tigris Personnel Executes an Interactive Marketing Stunt for TSN
If you were hustling through Union Station this past Mon., Mar. 18, it would have been impossible to miss our team of high energy brand ambassadors dressed like basketball stars.
Our team assisted with the launch of a “March Madness” promotion for TSN- an interactive marketing campaign to promote National Bracket Day for the NCAA. Dressed as passionate players in red and white uniforms, the Tigris team helped cure the m0rning blues one commuter at a time by handing out stress balls disguised as mini-basketballs.
After just 1 hour and 15 minutes, our brand ambassadors had successfully handed out 15,000 mini basketballs breaking our own record for last years EURO Cup launch for TSN handing out the same volume – 15,000 “tickets” – in two hours.
Our Interactive Marketing Campaign Proves to be Productive
An annual rite of Spring, the NCAA basketball tournament has become one of the most prominent sporting events on the calendar. Coverage of the tournament began Thursday March 21 with all‐day coverage on TSN and TSN2. Research has proven those completing a “bracket” are significantly more likely to tune‐in to NCAA March Maness broadcasts onTSN, making this interactive marketing campaign an important one!
Whether diehard fans make their bracket picks using statistical data, or casual fans make their picks based on the team logos or their favorite colours, TSN has a bracket for everyone. The winner of the 2013 Men’s Tournament Challenge gets a chance at a $10,000 cash prize. Not a bad return for a few weeks of heart-racing finishes and buzzer beaters! The purpose of this interactive marketing program was to encourage individuals to fill out their brackets for the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championships featuring the top 68 college basketball teams.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with Brackets……. There are 6 rounds to the NCAA tournament, for each correct winner picked, a player is awarded points based on what round the winner is picked in. The points per round increase as the tournament progresses. The chart below shows possible scoring by round systems, if you read further down the page we explain which system we think works best. Marketing and Promotions Program Kicks Off With a Bang!
Marketing and promotions with a focus on sampling provides consumers with a trial experience that is guided, memorable but above all, relevant to placing your product in the hands of your target market. A goal of any marketing and promotions program should be education, engagement and experience parlayed from the taster to the customer.
Established in 1929 as an open air market and later purchased in 1986 by Carmen Trimarchi and partner Brian Johns, Vince’s Market has since developed into a prestigious brand known for quality produce, bakery, meat and deli. The independent grocer launched their own line of all natural Coterie products (pronounced “Koh-ter-ie”) in 2012. With so many available options on the shelf, they discovered their amazing products were being overlooked in favour of more familiar name brands – and hence, decided to launch a marketing and promotions program.
In order to gain more brand exposure – and ultimately higher sales, the owners of Vince’s Market reached out to Tigris to help with a marketing and promotions strategy. The six-month sampling campaign officially kicked off on Mar. 9 and will run every weekend until mid October. A team of temporary sales staff will be sampling everything from Coterie sauces and salsas to spice rubs and dressings at the stores located in Newmarket, Sharon and Uxbridge.
The primary goal of this six-month, in-store marketing and promotions program is to:
1) EDUCATE the consumer about how to read food labels properly, why Coterie’s all-natural line is not only healthier but also tastes better, and what the point of difference is
2) ENGAGE customers during their shopping in a friendly, professional way to best represent Coterie/Vince’s Markets while facilitating the interaction in a positive way
3) Give customers a unique brand EXPERIENCE by sampling the products, getting it into their hands and also signing them up for Coterie Club to receive amazing deals 1-2x per week.
All Coterie products are branded “Go Natural” to offer customers tasty, nutritious choices – with family, the community and environment all in mind! Foods with this label include one or more of the following criteria:
* Whole foods: Foods that are un-processed and close to their original state
* Chemical-free: Food free of chemicals like additives, preservatives and by-products
* Local: From local farms and family businesses, supporting the local economy and the environment
* Organic: Foods that are certified organic, supporting your health and organic agriculture

Aside from sampling and sales, a secondary objective for this marketing and promotions campaign is to sign up customers up to Vince’s Market “Coterie Club”. Coterie Club offers members weekly promotional coupons, free products and community offers such as tickets to local events via text message.
Unlike many other programs, Coterie Club is completely free and the rewards are real! To register, customers are only asked for their cell phone number so, no personal information, no soliciting and no hassle! Upon sign up, customers have two options to print their coupon: in-store or at home. After signing-up, they also receive a special “Super Hot Offer” as a thank-you for participating (e.g. 4L of filtered milk for the month of March). Now that’s an amazing way to tie in marketing and promotions to benefit your brand – and more importantly – your customers.
We’re excited to work alongside such a health-conscious brand and look forward to what the remainder of the marketing and promotions program “has in store”!! Our goal over the next 6 months is to distribute more than 10,000 samples, increase sales by at least 50% and triple the number of Coterie Club members. Promotional Marketing Campaign puts the Clothes of Gym Members to the “Tide Test”
Tigris Personnel is proud to have partnered up with Zoom Media to assist in the planning and execution of a major promotional marketing stunt.
At 24 gyms in Canada’s 3 largest cities – Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver – fitness members were invited to participate in a unique, never-been-done-before promotional marketing activation! Tigris Personnel’s Tide Ambassadors asked participants to “Sweat their Workout, not Their Laundry”… and we literally collected their laundry from Jan. 25-Feb. 4, so we could sort, wash, dry, fold – and present it back to them, along with a FREE bottle of Tide on Mon., Feb. 6.
Fitness members were approached by Tigris Personnel’s brand ambassadors and educated on the promotion to encourage maximum participation. Our staff took care of absolutely everything to ensure members had nothing to worry about – except their workout! From collecting clothes to be laundered to carefully washing, drying and folding the items, our team turned an amazing idea into a truly memorable experience.
This promotional marketing campaign gave consumers the chance to experience the brand’s “Tide plus Febreze Freshness Sport” detergent in a completely new way! This detergent utilizes a unique combination for laundry designed to stand up against sweat and keep work out clothes smelling fresh!
The purpose of this promotional marketing program was for consumers to experience Tide’s latest and greatest product in a completely unique and memorable way. The result? Mission accomplished!!! Each participant received their freshly laundered clothing wrapped and secured in a colorfully branded Tide bag along with a book of coupons. As an additional value add, participants ALSO received a full bottle of ‘Tide Sport’ so their experience with the brand could continue – at their own home.
